Overview

Independent SMSF audits that support your firm

Our SMSF audit service gives accounting firms a professionally managed pathway from file submission to signed audit report. Each engagement is overseen by an ASIC-registered approved SMSF auditor, with independence assessed and documented in accordance with APES 110.

We examine the fund’s financial statements and compliance with superannuation law, raise queries directly with your team and communicate potential issues before the audit is finalised. This creates a clear audit trail while helping your firm keep client work moving efficiently.

Common Questions

Frequently asked

How does an external SMSF auditor support our independence obligations?

Using an auditor outside the accounting firm helps address the self-review threat that can arise when a firm has prepared the fund’s financial statements. Independence is assessed for each engagement under APES 110 before the audit is accepted.

Which software do you work with?

We work with BGL Simple Fund 360 and Class, with auditor access provided electronically. Audits are managed through Cloudoffis SMSF Auditomation, and workpapers can be supplied through SMSF Sorted or BGL Workpapers. If your firm uses another system, we will review the workflow and confirm any impact on timing before the engagement begins.

How are audit queries and contraventions handled?

Queries and potential compliance issues are communicated to your team as they arise, with the relevant evidence or clarification requested clearly. Where an auditor contravention report is required, we complete the applicable reporting obligations and explain the process to your firm.

Can you assist with prior-year or overdue audit files?

Yes. We review the available records, confirm the scope of work and provide a clear fee and realistic timetable before commencing. This allows your firm to give the trustees an informed plan for bringing the fund’s audit obligations up to date.

How does our firm get started?

Complete the registration form below and we will establish your access to the audit platform, generally within one business day. Your firm can then submit a single fund to become familiar with the workflow before transferring further engagements.
